Olive wand from the Sanctuary of Athena
Length: Approximately 14 inches/35 cm

This wand was collected from the sanctuary of Athena site at Delphi. The shrine of Athena pre-dates the temple of Apollo site and has been a powerful sacred site since pre-historic times. It was originally dedicated to the worship of the Earth Goddess and was later occupied by Athena, the virgin Goddess of wisdom and war. This is one of my favourite sites. There is a very powerful sense of the feminine and timeless wisdom seems to ooze from the old wild olive trees surrounding the temple.
Olive wood provides balance between the spiritual and physical. It will allow people to travel between the spiritual and physical worlds at ease, and thus is an excellent tool for astral projection or communication with spirits. The olive tree represents regeneration, fertility, prosperity and healing. Furthermore, it is sacred to the Goddess Athena.
The natural shape and colour of the wood has been preserved in this wand and there is a natural hole on both sides, invoking the feminine. The wand would seem to be suited more to left-hand use but also feels very comfortable in the right hand.
